I recently had the pleasure of photographing Britain’s sexiest (female) farmer. Anna scooped the title Britains Sexiest Farmer in a national competition ran by Farmer’s Weekly. Anna, who won Miss Newcastle in 2007, said: "I want to show everyone that farming is not just men, muck and wellies, but is much, much more.”
Anna who is actually a friend of my wife’s is very easy to photograph. We spent an hour scouting around the farm getting various shots in the freezing weather. We chatted about the competition and by the time we did the shoot she’d already appeared on most of the national newspapers. She seemed very pleased by it all and at the same time quite philosophical about her new found fame.
“Tim Relf, of Farmers Weekly, said: ”Forget the old, stereotypical image of farmers as straw-chewing and scruffily dressed. That’s history. They’re seriously sexy.”
Maybe they should have a sexy farmer competition at Egton Show every year?
The pictures were taken for Newsquest and will feature in the Darlington & Stockton times, The northern Echo and Living magazine.
