I recently undertook a commission from Drapers magazine. Drapers (for those who dont know) is the magazine for the clothing retail trade covering trends in the industry as well as news and interview features. The main feature in the magazine is called The Drapers Interview. It was for this interview that the pictures were commissioned and I was given a very comprehensive brief detailing style and cropping issues.
So fully prepared I turned up nice and early, scouted the location for my first set-up, fixed up my lights and did a couple of test frames on my own ugly mug.
All was good to go but unfortunately when the two gentleman arrived to be photographed I was informed I had five minutes before one had to leave to get a train. I managed to stretch this out to seven whole minutes and eventually got three set ups which, considering the circumstances, weren’t at all bad and most importantly the client was pleased
Its interesting to note however that if Id not been set up and ready for the first shot.....it could have been a disaster.
