This week Ive had a few interesting PR jobs. One of them was photographing the Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2009 regional final in Middlesbrough.
I had to get quick shot of the models for the judges to reference, including group shots and general action, and then later had the winner to photograph seperately.
When thinking about how I was to photograph the winner, Tanya, I had to consider that the pictures would be sent out locally within Teesside as well as into the broader region. I made sure I got some images that featured a Middlesbrough landmark, in this case the Bottle of Notes sculpture, for the Evening Gazette and Northern Echo, as well as a couple of more general shots for the Yorkshire Post.
Even though the shoot only took ten minutes, we got some lovely pictures of Tanya - she was a natural. For these shots, I used remote flash on a lightstand triggered with the Elinchrom Skyport system mentioned in my previous blogs. This means I can work very quickly, but as it all relies on manual settings, you have to know your stuff. Here are a couple of pics for you to look at. Congratulations and thanks to Tanya.
